Perhaps the title above does not actually mean anything to you personally, or possibly you are the kind of person who is more than eager to say this to yourself on an on going basis.
If you are living what the general population would describe as an unhappy personal life, then you have to realize that you need to bring about some personal changes, but of course, an unhappy personal life can mean several things. More often than not however, it actually means that the person concerned lacks self-confidence, and probably also has a low self-esteem.
If you want to bring about some personal changes therefore, and overturn your current state into the successful and happy person you would wish to be, you really need to learn and focus on the following factors.
Develop your interpersonal skills - If you lack self-confidence and have low self-esteem, you probably do not have much of a social life, or even none at all, and most likely this is because you do not possess enough courage to try and meet other people socially.
What you should do therefore is develop your interpersonal skills, by learning to join different activity or special interest groups, and then learning to open up to them, and also to trust them. You could start off with a close friend who you can trust, and work up your social life from there, or you could join seminars, workshops, and programs that can help you build your self-confidence, and also improve your self-esteem.
Shyness and fear is only your worst enemy if you want it to be the case, so open up with other people, and thereby develop the ability to overcome these fears.
Develop your communication skills - Lack of self-confidence and low self-esteem could be rooted from having either poor, or even no communication skills, so therefore what you require to do is to learn how to talk to other people effectively. Start tp integrate with as many people as you can, but only choose people who you fell that you can trust, at least to start off with. If you feel that you cannot actually trust anybody at all in the outside world, start off with family members or professional therapists.
Have a positive outlook in life and in your own self worth, and strive to develop a mindset that would make you feel better everyday,which will help to make you see the life generally, and yourself in particular, in a much more positive way. You might well ask how you are going to acheive this, and one way is to start off your day with a smile. Although that might seem a bit corny to you, starting your day in a positive manner will make the rest of the day seem pleasant and light.
Do not aim for perfection - If you aim for perfection, you will only frustrate yourself! You cannot be perfect and neither can other people, so in your daily activities always aim for the best, but be realistic, and accept the fact that there is always the chances of errors ocurring.
Leave the feeling of self consciousness behind - The opposite of self confidence is self consciousness, so if you want to build up yourself confidence, you should learn how to leave your self conscious feelings behind. To be able to do this, you should not focus your attention on the fear of humiliation and criticism, but instead, divert your thoughts to the good things in life. Talk to yourself and be confident on what you are doing.
Do not dwell on your failures - In other words be positive in your outlook, and do not make things harder for yourself by thinking about all the negative things that have happened to you, but rather focus on your achievements instead.
Treat yourself right - Eat well and also get enough rest and exercise, as these three things alone will make you feel better about yourself, both on the inside and the outside. This is an extremely effective way to boost your self-confidence and increase your self-esteem as well.
After you have completed all of these steps, you are bound to see the difference in yourself, and very quickly you will be able to say that building self-confidence and self-esteem is your key to success!
